Hung around 'till dawn, looked again, and came to the conclusion that they just weren't there. Destroyers still there, but no battleships to be seen. I crept out submerged, recharged my batteries, and then tried again the following night. I waited 'till dawn, but no luck - still couldn't see anything, except the destroyers which I'd had lurking all night. Snuck in at night, but it was p***ing down with rain, and I couldn't see a thing. Finished the patrol, radio'd back status, and got sent to do another photo recon: battleships in Koror harbour - which is on Palau, so I was already almost there. After patrolling off the Philippines, and then photographing carriers in Raboul (scary stuff), I'd been sent to patrol off Palau, which went well enough - found a nice juicy freighter on a perfect intercept, and stuck a couple of stern-tube torpedoes in from close range - kaboom.
MY unmodded SH4 campaign has hit a hitch.
